About Us

We are a family of winemakers with generations of experience, passion and knowledge to share. Our legacy is born in Mendoza, Argentina where the Andes meet the desert. Our family established a legendary name in the Argentinean wine world many decades ago.
Our father, Alejandro De Miguel, was instrumental in putting Argentine wines on the global map through his work at Trapiche Winery. Our mother, Mabel Sacchi, began her studies at 13, and upon completion of her masters at Juan Agustin Maza University, she was the first woman in South America to graduate as an oenologist. Both Alejandro and Mabel are consulting winemakers at Vintage One.
The next generation continued the tradition. Alejandra worked and apprenticed at wineries around the world and now joins her partners, brother Jeronimo De Miguel and documentary filmmaker Julian Pinder to deliver a unique wine experience in the city.
We embrace the art and science of winemaking and invite you to learn as much about the winemaking process as about the land and the grape behind every glass. Come and make wine with our experienced winemakers. Be part of our winemaking family.
The winery
Vintage One is a city winery designed to bring the spirit of wine country to your doorstep. Visit our winery and it will feel like you’ve escaped to wine country. Surrounded by oak barrels and Italian stainless steel fermenting tanks, the winery is unlike anything else in the city.
Vintage One is a modern interpretation of a traditional winery. It is an exquisitely designed 10,000 sq ft facility located conveniently in Toronto’s west end. We designed the winery to be a perfect setting for any festive occasion from intimate dinners and cocktail receptions to larger celebrations from weddings to corporate events.
At its roots our winery is for those individuals with an interest and passion for wine who want to take their knowledge and expertise to that next step. With state-of-the-art equipment, the very best in traditional oak barrels, and premium grapes from renowned vineyards worldwide, our family of winemakers await your visit to Vintage One.
Our grapes
Part of what makes Vintage One Wines distinctive is that our wines come from the finest grapes. We work hand-in-hand with international vine growers to ensure that we are able to provide the best quality and priced, premium grapes from around the world.
Our family’s unique, proprietary process allows us to hand-harvest our grapes at peak maturity, then slowly and methodically deep freeze the whole grapes and transport them in temperature regulated containers to the winery.
This novel process ensures the tannic, colour, and nutrient characteristics of the grapes are fully intact, while only their physical cellular structure is broken down, which would happen anyway during the cold maceration. This also gives us the advantage of not having to use preservatives. Due to the boutique nature of the V1 production, our wines require very low amounts of sulfites compared with most commercial wineries.
