Carménère

Carménère had become the “forgotten grape” for more than 100 years. It was first imported to Chile from Bordeaux in the early 1850’s, and it wasn’t until the early 90’s that a professor discovered that the Chilean Carménère had been misidentified as Merlot for over a century. Chile’s climate is ideal for the Carménère grape and it flourished there.
V1 Estates are produced with high quality grapes from various countries and regions determined each harvest. Each harvest we find the best quality grapes in specific regions of Sicily, Chile, Argentina, California and Ontario. This Carménère is from the Maipo Valley which is located in central Chile, and bound by the Andes Mountains

This Carménère can definitely take on some heartier dishes, such as lamb stew, lentil soup or a nice grilled lamb with mint sauce. A great wine to accompany a gorgonzola cheese, an asiago if you like harder cheeses and liver pate.
