Syrah

Syrah is the only grape to make the famous Rhone wines of Cote Rotie and Hermitage, and also forms the backbone of most Rhone blends including Chateauneuf du Pape. The origins of this grape were long debated but through combined research, DNA profiling proved Syrah to be indigenous to France. Syrah is a relative late-comer to Chilean vineyards, but it quickly set down roots and has become a shining star on the country’s viticultural horizon. It yields inky purplish-red wines, due to the rich pigment in its skin. Syrah is also known as Shiraz.

V1 Estates are produced with high quality grapes from various countries and regions determined each harvest. Each harvest we find the best quality grapes in specific regions of Sicily, Chile, Argentina, California and Ontario. This Chilean Syrah is from the Maipo Valley which is located in central Chile, and bound by the Andes Mountains. It is best known for its well-balanced red wines.
