Tannat – Organic

Tannat is historically grown in South West France, and is now one of the most prominent grapes in Uruguay, but is also grown in Argentina with great success. Exceptional levels of polyphenols are found in Tannat. The reason for the high concentration of these properties in Tannat wines are that the Tannat grape contains 5 pips (seeds), while all of the other fine wine grapes normally contain just 2 or 3, thus the source of the high concentrations of polyphenols, procyanidins, flavenoids and resveratrol, which are the four primary antioxidant components found in all wines.

V1 Estates are produced with high quality grapes from various countries and regions determined each harvest. Each harvest we find the best quality grapes in specific regions of Sicily, Chile, Argentina, California and Ontario. San Juan province is the second city of the country for its volume of grapes and wine productions. This Tannat comes from the Tulum Valley which is located between the Andes and Pie de Palo hills at the left bank of San Juan River.

Pairing

Much like a Malbec, due to its strong tannins, this wine will pair perfectly with any cut of meat on the grill. Any meaty dishes such as beef stews and cassoulets are a great match or with mature cheeses. The body, acid and tannins may overwhelm lighter styles of foods.
