Select
Our Select wines are created with grapes from very prestigious, renowned vineyards. Older and more mature, these vineyards typically have a very low yield, resulting in more intense and complex wines.
The wines in our Select category include oak barrel aging, determined by our winemakers according to the varietal and vintage. Our Select wines are premium wines, meant to be aged and loved, and exhibiting exceptional characteristics with maturity.
| Organic Cabernet Sauvignon | $351/18 litres/24 bottles | Cabernet Sauvignon is the world’s most loved red wine. It is nicknamed “the king of red wine grapes,” and often paired with other reds, including merlot and shiraz On the vine, the cabernet sauvignon grape is hardy with thick bluish black skin. This thick skin contributes to the grapes notoriously high tannin levels, which soften and smooth with aging. The grape originates from the Bordeaux region of southwest France and is known to be the result of breeding a cabernet franc and sauvignon blanc grape. |
| Organic Carmenere | $423/18 litres/24 bottles | Carmenere had become the “forgotten grape” in Chile for more than 100 years. It was first imported to Chile from Bordeaux in the early 1850’s, and it wasn’t until the early 90’s that a professor discovered that the Chilean Carmenere had been misidentified as Merlot for over a century. Chile’s climate is ideal for the Carmenere grape and it flourished there. |
| Organic Malbec | $405/18 litres/24 bottles | Mendoza is the dominant wine region. Perched on the side of the Andes, this is a region that receives very little rainfall, and were it not for the ready supply of Andes meltwater, viticulture wouldn’t be possible here. Another important factor is altitude: the vineyards here are high up, and with the highest vineyards in the region the extra UV light that the grapes receives causes the grapes to develop thicker skins, with more tannins (and softer tannins, too), as well as more colour. The cooling effect of altitude means that the grapes preserve acidity even when they are allowed to hang for quite a while before harvest. |
| Chardonnay | $297/18 litres/24 bottles | Chardonnay grapes are small, think-skinned and fragile and therefore expensive to grow, harvest and age. They require warm climates with cool nights. These grapes come from Casablanca which is a valley approximately 24 kilometers long and forms part of the Coastal Range. The climate in the valley of Casablanca is cool, presents morning fog and a wide thermal range between day and night, favoring the slow maturity of the grape. |
| Fume Blanc | $297/18 litres/24 bottles | This Fume Blanc is from the Santa Filomena vineyard located in the Valley of Casablanca. It is known for its clay soils rich in minerals from the Andean snowmelt, with a cool climate ideal for cultivating white varietals. |
